Apple is slated to launch a new MacBook Pro later this year, and a new report seems to back up that claim. The next-generation MacBook Pro is expected to hit the market in the third quarter of this year, likely sometime between September and November. This MacBook Pro comes with a mini LED display, a new technology that relies on thousands of backlit small LEDs to provide higher contrast ratios and deeper blacks. TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports separately that a MacBook Air with a mini LED display is also in the works.
Kuo’s Investor Note was retrieved from 9to5Mac stating that the MacBook Air with mini-LED display will hit the market sometime in mid-2022. This could mean Apple could launch it during WWDC 2022 or even its spring event. The analyst says the next-generation MacBook Air will reportedly come with mini-LED display technology and could have a display size of 13.3 inches. Kuo had previously spoken of a MacBook Air launch for 2022, but did not give a specific schedule. Next year’s MacBook Air will also experience a design update and also integrate Apple’s M2 chip.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports in his Power On newsletter, accessed by 9to5Mac, that Apple’s top-of-the-line MacBook range will hit the market sometime between September and November this year. According to the report, the MacBook Pro model also comes with a mini-LED display. This is in line with what Kuo previously reported about the MacBook Pro launch in the third quarter of this year. In the newsletter, Gurman says, “These new MacBooks should hit the market earlier, but complications surrounding the new mini-LED display have delayed production.”
Earlier reports suggest that the new MacBook Pro models, which will hit the market in September, are expected to come in 14-inch and 16-inch display sizes and may be powered by the Apple M1X processor. The M1X chip is expected to far outperform the current M1 chips in terms of performance and capabilities.
Leaks suggest that next-gen MacBook Pro models may have a redesigned case, a MagSafe magnetic charger, and more ports for connecting external drives and devices. Apple may also be bringing back the HDMI port and SD card slot.
